The Numbers

Greater at a Glance

Greater Across Time

It seems important to document Elonica’s progress in the areas that appeared to matter to voters. Numbers can illuminate our experiences in our neighborhoods, states, and in Elonica as a nation. Greater at a Glance will capture where we are each week. Greater Across Time will house a running record of Elonica’s success. In areas where data sources update monthly or quarterly (like unemployment or GDP), charts will reflect the latest available numbers.

Where am I finding these numbers? Here’s the key:

  • Milk, eggs, McDonald’s, gas: neighborhood businesses (same store, same brands every time)
  • Median home sale price (realtor.com), mortgage rate (bankrate.com): nearest town
  • Monthly homicides (reported by police department & newspaper): nearest big city
  • ESOL Enrollment: local high school
  • Federal Deficit: Deficit Tracker at bipartisanpolicy.org
  • Bureau of Labor Statistics (bls.gov): inflation, unemployment
  • Bureau of Economic Analysis (bea.gov): GDP (gross domestic product)
  • Federal Reserve (federalreserve.gov): federal interest rate
  • Stocks: daily publishing
